Today, as the two get hitched once again as per Sindhi customs, there is also another special occasion for the newlyweds. Did you know Ranveer and Deepika almost didn't come together for this film? Well, as per reports the first choice for the film was Kareena Kapoor Khan and then the film went to Priyanka Chopra. When both of them were not able to give their nod to the project due to other commitments, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali got in touch with Deepika and there was an instant yes from her. Priyanka, however, later went on to do a dance number in the movie.

The film started at a time when Ranveer and Deepika both were just out of a personal relationship with Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor respectively, and their professional life was also not booming. Bhansali too wasn't on a career high as his last directorial Guzaarish (2010) didn't get good footfalls at the ticket windows.

As SLB was adapting the iconic William Shakespeare love story, Romeo And Juliet, for the Indian audiences, the lead pair needed to get their chemistry right. Deepika and Ranveer were asked to spend time together a lot by SLB in order to get their chemistry perfect for the film.
